GC Whitesox Zeneca Sky of Voijer, DM
aka Sky
blue lynx point female

In December of 2002, I got an e-mail from Karen Helmold that she had two female lynx kittens and she thought perhaps I would be interested in one of them.  I had met Karen two years before and had fallen in love with a blue lynx kitten she was showing; I told Karen I would love to have a kitten from her.  The saying “Good things come to those who wait” is so true!  Two years later when I got Karen’s e-mail, I was just thrilled!  She had a seal and blue lynx point kitten - I definitely wanted a blue lynx kitten!  Karen worked with Jan and Curt Gabbard and they and Karen and Richard Helmold were the breeders of this kitten.   Karen named her lynx point kittens with the theme of Native Americans; so we had to come up with a Native American name starting with a “Z”, since she was born in the “Z” year.

Toward the end of January 2003, my husband, Mel, went to Florida to pick up Whitesox Zeneca Sky of Voijer.  On his way home, he put Sky in her soft carrier under the seat in front of him, as he was supposed to do.  He was just dozing off when he felt a thud on his chest – Sky had decided she preferred to be on top of Mel rather than in her carrier and had unzipped it enough to get out!  Mel put her back in the carrier and put the carrier on his lap, which satisfied Sky as she didn’t try to get out again.

Sky enjoyed being shown as a kitten and as she got a little older and bigger, she did well in the show hall.  When Sky turned eight months she became an adult in the show world and began her quest for the title of Grand Champion.  She achieved her Grand Champion title at ten months and soon after that began her career as a mom.

To this day Sky remains a calm, beautiful cat who enjoys having kittens and is a very attentive, caring mother to her babies.  She attained the title of Distiguished Merrit (DM) during the show year of 2006-2007.  To achieve this title, Sky needed to have five cats become either Grand Champions or Grand Premiers.  Sky has had six cats do this and they are all shown here.

We are very lucky to have such a beautiful, loving cat in our breeding program.  She has given us many beautiful kittens with her calm, loving temperament.  I have to thank Karen Helmold for sending this wonderful girl to us.
